Phew! Back in the Xantia at last!

I’ve very pleased to say that I exchanged the Racing AX for my lovely Xantia V6 Exclusive this afternoon at BL Autos and Sons. For just over GBP600 I now have a new-second-hand gearbox and all looks to be good for now. Hurrah!

The Xantia V6 Lives On! And The Benz Is Back!

I’ve asked BL Autos and Sons to get the second hand gearbox and fit it to the Xantia. They have received it now, although it seems the end plate was damaged in transit. The supplier is still prepared to offer their 90 day warranty provided BL swap the end plate from the old box. So […]

Citroen Xantia V6 – Deceased

I was driving home last night and the engine started making an extra noise. This morning on the way to work, I got to Denham and lost all drive. Fortunately Green Flag Rescue came along and took me to BL Autos and Sons in Welwyn Garden City. The problem was diagnosed as a knackered gearbox. […]

Super Fuel Economy

Now that I’m using the Xantia V6 as my daily transport rather than the Benz C43, I’ve noticed significantly better fuel consumption. Now I’m only using 1 tank of petrol a week, whereas before it was between 1.5 and 2. We sold the BX for £500, so I’m down to two and a half cars […]

Car Rationalisation

Late last night the ebay auction ended and the Citroen BX GTi 16V has now been sold. So now I’m down to the Mercedes Benz C43 AMG, the Citroen Xantia V6 and a half share of the Citroen Xantia 2.0 Turbo Activa. The Activa is really Martyn’s to deal with, I don’t have any share […]

More Car Woes

I still need to get the Mercedes down to the Alignment Centre, now that the wheel bearings have been replaced. There’s a lot of screeching when I go round corners in car parks. The Xantia V6 needs 2 new fans for the radiator, approximate cost £366.60 at BLAutos. I’m starting to wonder if I shouldn’t […]

I’m Excited!

I’m excited about the weekend now. Tomorrow I’m going with Martyn and Ruth to be fabulous at The Dorchester. We’re booked in for afternoon tea And the day after is Supercar Sunday! Hopefully I’ll be travelling up with Martyn in the DeLorean, whilst Ruth and Avi follow in the Support Vehicle Gosh, I’ve been blogging […]

Mercedes Entropy

I recently popped in to the Alignment Centre in Perivale because the front tyres on the Mercedes are feathering – the wear pattern is unusual. A quick look at the car revealed that I need new front wheel bearings and new front discs and pads. I spoke briefly to George Fraser and discs are about […]

Review of the Navman ICN 630 Satellite Navigation Unit

I’ve had a Navman 630 for some months now, and I’m very happy with it. The 630 is the predecessor to the 650. The big difference is the 630 uses an SD card to store the maps (limited to 256Mb by the hardware), whereas the 650 uses an internal 2Gb hard disk. The disk is […]
