Thunderbird, the excellent email client from the Mozilla foundation has introduced a new message retention feature. At last!
This means that you can set a number of days to keep messages in a particular folder. So, for example, I receive email from a number of cinema chains telling me what’s on at the flicks. Now I can set a retention time of 30 days on the folder where those messages are automatically filed, so that the old messages which are no longer relevant disappear as if by magic
There is also an option to keep only the last n messages, if that makes sense for a particular folder.
So, well done the Thunderbird team
Of course, Cix and Ameol have had this feature for years
