Thunderbird Introduces Retention

Thunderbird, the excellent email client from the Mozilla foundation has introduced a new message retention feature. At last!

This means that you can set a number of days to keep messages in a particular folder. So, for example, I receive email from a number of cinema chains telling me what’s on at the flicks. Now I can set a retention time of 30 days on the folder where those messages are automatically filed, so that the old messages which are no longer relevant disappear as if by magic :-)

There is also an option to keep only the last n messages, if that makes sense for a particular folder.

So, well done the Thunderbird team :-) Of course, Cix and Ameol have had this feature for years :-)
