BA Business

I’m back in Bucharest again this week, and I flew out on British Airways. The flight was delayed for a while, but I was in no hurry, I had a whole day to travel.

At the gate, the friendly staff were feeding tickets in to the ticket reader, tearing off the stub and checking passports. As my ticket was fed in to the machine, it was rejected (it came out the same way it went in, rather than the popping up out of the top slot). The helpful woman on the gate typed in my seat number to confirm it manually, but couldn’t find me (I presume). When she typed my name in it turns out that I’d been re-assigned to a different seat. In Club class! Woo-hoo!

Club class on BA shorthaul means a slightly wider seat, hot towels on take off, a proper meal served on china with real glasses, metal cutlery and a cloth napkin. The cabin crew are much more attentive too :-)
The aircraft was an Airbus 319, and I was sitting in the row behind the over-wing emergency exits (row 10 if I recall correctly), in the last row of Club class. So that probably means that the Club class section was larger than the economy section. I’m guessing that the class divider screen can be easily moved up and down the plane – I don’t know if that happens for each flight though. Potentially it does – it makes sense to make Club only as big as you need it.

Coincidentally, I was reading Air Babylon by Imogen Edwards-Jones and Anonymous that day, which gives an excellent insight in to the bits of the airport (and the airline) that you never normally see.
So, all in all, a good day :-)
