I’ve asked BL Autos and Sons to get the second hand gearbox and fit it to the Xantia. They have received it now, although it seems the end plate was damaged in transit. The supplier is still prepared to offer their 90 day warranty provided BL swap the end plate from the old box. So that’s nice.
In the mean time I’ve been soldiering on with the Racing AX courtesy car from BL
In other news, the Benz is back. The problem was an air mass sensor. This makes sense to me because if it was under-reporting the amount of air going in to the manifold, that would cause the computer to inject less fuel. Which would explain why I couldn’t get past about 5,000 rpm. And which would also explain why it wouldn’t change up gears under full throttle – presumably the programme dictates that under full throttle the gear change doesn’t happen until the red line is reached. Of course, it never got to the red line, so it didn’t change up.
It’s fantastic to have the Benz back working as it should again
Having said that, I still have to sell it. GBP9950 and it’s yours
