Recently, Martyn gave me a 250Gb hard disk in a box so that I can back up my home PCs. Martyn has upgraded to a 500Gb system. It connects to the PC with a USB cable.
I asked Linux to check the drive for bad blocks and create an ext3 filesystem over the whole disk.
It was going to take 3 days to complete the bad tracking, so I abandoned that and just created the filesystem. It was finished when I woke up
So now I can backup my whole machine with a carefully constructed rsync command.
Which is good, because actually there are a lot of things I’d like to keep, especially photos downloaded from cameras and phones.
Woo-hoo!
