Prague Hotels

Previously, I’ve mainly stayed at the Hilton hotel in Prague. Recently I was upgraded to a Gold HHonors card (the Hilton frequent sleeper card) which means you are automatically upgraded to an executive room and you get access to the executive lounge. Both of which make your life much more pleasant :-)

This time I’m staying at the Marriott (because the Hilton was full). I only have a Silver Marriott frequent sleeper card, but this was sufficient for executive priviledges :-)

I think overall, the Marriott is a nicer hotel, and it seems to be a bit more central. It is, however, more expensive. The biggest problem at the Marriott is the lack of handy taxis. The Hilton has it’s own fleet of Skoda Superbs (actually, they are rather superb), and you can just walk out of the hotel and a nice man will sort you out with a taxi. Ok, they’re expensive but they are very convenient.

When you walk out of the Marriott you seem to be on a shopping street, and there’s no nice men to sort you out with anything. It seems that there are taxis associated with the hotel, but it’s not at all obvious. Probably I should have booked a car from inside the hotel.

So, I’d quite like to stay at the Marriott again, but I expect it will be just too expensive. I just need to discover the magic phrase to use when booking that means you get a reasonable rate :-) Still, the same applies to the Hilton, there’s not much difference between them - the Hilton is a bit cheaper, but it still costs too much :-)
