Saturday just gone I went to Bletchley Park (again) with Martyn and Robert. We met a bunch of friends at the Park and had a fab day.
The highlight of the day for me was seeing the Colossus in action. Don’t let anyone convince you the Americans made the Worlds First Computer. That honour goes to Colossus. Amazingly, the entire machine has been re-built from old photographs and occasional drawings. It reads paper tape at 5,000 characters per second, which means the tape moves at about 30 miles per hour!
It was amazing to see it in action and listen to Tony Sale talking about it.
If you haven’t been to Bletchley Park, just do it!
