I was working in Aldgate in London today (Monday). I should be there tomorrow and the next day too, if it were not for the fact of the RMT Tube Strike tomorrow night (for 24 hours). So, I’ll probably have a short day tomorrow, then go back again on Thursday. Hopefully the trains will be reasonably normal by then.
Shocking train related facts:
It costs £8.00 return from Rickmansworth to London if you travel during peak hours.
At Liverpool St. and Waterloo stations (and, presumably, all other London train termini) it costs £5.50 to leave a bag at the Left Luggage Office. For the first 24 hours, or part thereof.
I was travelling home on the Metropolitan Line on a Fast Amersham Train. The train was turned back at Rickmansworth (at least it got as far as my stop) due to a Chiltern Trains unit blocking the line further north. The reason the Chiltern train had broken down was it had run out of diesel. I’m just astounded by the sheer incompetence of it all! These people obviously don’t deserve to run our railways.
