Prague

I had to visit Prague, rather unexpectedly from Tuesday evening to Friday evening this week.

Dr Jan’s Tip From The Top

Buy yourself an American Express Platinum Card. They cost £275 a year, but you do get some nifty benefits.

Amongst the most useful so far are the free Priority Pass card which lets you use the business class lounge at most airports, whatever your class of ticket happens to be. So you can join the jet set even if you’re a poor person :-) If you wanted to buy the Priority Pass as a stand alone purchase it costs USD399.00.

You also get free travel insurance.

By far the biggest benefit is the ability to ‘out colour’ friends and acquaintances :-)

You know how it is when every one is offering to pay at the end of a meal, and the posh person gets out their Amex Gold Card. The look on their face when you casually drop your Platinum Card on the table is probably worth the annual fee alone :-)

This has happened to me twice now :-)

OK, so none of this is really free, because it costs £275 to join the club, but I’m gradually becoming convinced it’s worthwhile.

Prague – it’s an amazingly pretty place, go and see it if you get the chance.

I was shocked to find that a return ticket to Prague from London Heathrow was only £150, even though I booked on the day I travelled. Check out the rather marvellous Czech Airlines.

And they’re a member of Skyteam too, which means you can accumulate points on your Air France Fréquence Plus card. So that’s nice :-)
